K1 Fiance Visa Processing Times for Brazil

The Department of State reported this morning that visa applications are up by about 62% last month compared to March 2011. This is an amazing increase and a testament to growing transfer of employees and family members between Brazil and the U.S. Currently visa processing is taking 7 months according to the Department of State. While this may seem to be a long time, the K-1 procedures at the U.S. Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro is well-organized and streamlined. For tourist visas, according to the Dept. of State, the visa wait time is less than 2 weeks. To meet the demand, the Dept. of State has increased staffing levels.
